The team at Alamo Ranch Animal Hospital is comprised of highly trained and experienced animal health professionals who have a genuine love for working with pets. Our staff treats every patient with the highest quality of medical care as well as a gentle touch.

Dr. Greg Gaines, DVM

Dr. Greg Gaines, DVM was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He attended Taft High School and was very active in the local Helotes 4-H growing up. His undergraduate degree was obtained at UTSA, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2001. He attended Texas A&M University and achieved his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 with honors. Dr. Gaines joined the team at Affordable Pet Care NW as an associate veterinarian and practiced with them for the last 11 years. He will miss his APC family, but saw a need for good, compassionate, cost effective veterinary care in the Alamo Ranch and surrounding area. Alamo Ranch Animal Hospital was founded in October of 2016.

He and his wife Sarah, (a practicing veterinarian at South Texas Veterinary Specialists) have 2 beautiful children (Lyla and Jack) and 3 dogs, (Si, Annie, Ace). In his spare time, Dr. Gaines enjoys spending time with his family, as well as bay fishing, cooking, and of course watching Aggie football.
